Trabalho no Instituto Tecnológico de Aeronáutica (ITA), conhecido em inglês como Aeronautics Institute of Technology. Localizado em São José dos Campos, São Paulo, Brasil, o ITA é uma instituição de ensino superior e pesquisa reconhecida mundialmente na área de engenharia, especialmente em aeronáutica. Fundado em 1950, o ITA desempenhou um papel crucial no desenvolvimento da aviação brasileira, formando profissionais altamente qualificados que contribuem para o avanço tecnológico e a competitividade do setor aéreo do país. A instituição mantém estreita colaboração com a indústria aeronáutica, incluindo a Embraer, uma das maiores fabricantes de aeronaves do mundo, e tem sido um centro de inovação e pesquisa em várias áreas relacionadas à aviação.
O Núcleo de Economia do Transporte Aéreo do Instituto Tecnológico de Aeronáutica (NECTAR-ITA) é um centro de pesquisas dedicado exclusivamente a estudos aplicados nas indústrias de transporte aéreo no Brasil. Originário das iniciativas pioneiras de Michal Gartenkraut em 1977 e reestruturado em 2004, o NECTAR-ITA tem suas raízes na fundação do ITA e é dedicado a estudos de economia do transporte, com foco em demanda, concorrência, regulação e a relação entre operações de transporte aéreo e infraestrutura aeroportuária.
Os pioneiros em Economia do Transporte Aéreo no Brasil tiveram um papel fundamental na história do ITA e do NECTAR-ITA. Professores americanos que vieram ao Brasil para o projeto de constituição do ITA, como William L. Grossman e Dole A. Anderson, e mais tarde, o professor brasileiro Michal Gartenkraut, foram fundamentais no desenvolvimento da área no país, tornando o ITA uma referência não apenas em Engenharia Aeronáutica, mas também nos estudos de aviação comercial. Michal Gartenkraut, em particular, é considerado o fundador honorário do NECTAR e um exemplo para gerações de pesquisadores e economistas no Brasil. Um outro importante pioneiro que contribuiu decisivamente com o fomento à esse campo de pesquisa no Brasil foi a Professora Friedhilde Maria Kustner Manolescu, a qual presto minhas homenagens. Esses pioneiros estabeleceram as bases para os estudos e pesquisas em economia do transporte aéreo no país, influenciando políticas públicas e a formação de profissionais especializados no setor.
Como atual coordenador do NECTAR-ITA, busco manter a tradição de produção de estudos na área, com foco em Economia Aplicada e Econometria. Para mim é uma honra e uma grande responsabilidade manter o legado dos professores que me antecederam, os quais reitero o tributo. O site do NECTAR-ITA é www.nectar.ita.br.
